Key Assignment

Be sure to incorporate the feedback into your final paper that you received from your instructor in Week 4.

You are working as a key leader in a fairly new, small biotech company that has just landed a major government contract that will necessitate significant growth in the organization’s employee population. This contract requires a broad range of services to be provided to employees, many of which the organization currently lacks in its benefit packages. Your task is to design an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefit that can address the emotional, relational, and mental health needs of a diverse employee population (from maintenance workers to scientists). To design this critical benefit, you will need to write a policy related to what you and your colleagues have decided to call “Celebrating Human Diversity.” You will also need to write a Request for Proposals (RFP) document that will help to identify an appropriate EAP vendor.

Part I: (3-4 Pages)

The “Celebrating Human Diversity” policy.

Be sure to incorporate feedback from your instructor received in Week 4 into your final paper.

The format of the policy is not as important as the content; however, please include the following sections:PurposeYou should include your previous work regarding the debate assignment in Week 1.Include the position that you took in the debate.Support your position with evidence. You should also tie in your position to the policy to strengthen it.Application (to whom it applies)Methods of celebrating diversityAddressing unusual situationsThe information that you gathered in Weeks 2–4 that was related to disorders should also be used to address unusual situations and the benefits that support employees and their families.Benefits that support employees and their families (e.g., the EAP, medical insurance, wellness program, etc.)

Part II: (6-7 Pages)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Request For Proposal (RFP). This section should be 6–7 pages. Again, focus on the content of the RFP rather than struggling with the format. You will need to include the following information:A brief summary of the company policy regarding human diversityInformation about the requesting organization (i.e., demographics of the employee population, number and locations of employees, core competencies of the company, etc.)This information can be from an actual company or fictional. The types of issues that your employees and their family members may need to have addressed (with brief descriptions)For each type of disorder (i.e., anxiety, mood, dissociative, somatoform, psychotic, and personality) include descriptive characteristics.Prevalence in the U.S. populationRisk factors and preventionYour perception of the potential impact on workplace performanceAccepted treatment approachesLong-term prognosis (i.e., can it get better?)A summary of the services that you expect the EAP to provide and the expected start date for service provision

Utilize information from your previous work related to mental health disorders (prevalence, etiology, and treatment approaches) as you determine what issues may need to be addressed and the services that need to be included as a part of the EAP.

For the final Key Assignment, you will write a 10-page paper (which includes the cover page and reference page). It should be double-spaced and should follow APA format specifications. You will include a minimum of 6 peer-reviewed, scholarly resources (although other resources such as Web sites, online encyclopedias, etc. can be used, these do not count toward the 6 required sources). Be sure to use APA style for in-text citations and to list your sources on the reference page.
