- You are attending a road traffic accident on a busy dual carriageway. There appears to be one casualty, a motorcyclist who is unconscious and has poor respiratory function (suspected to have head and chest injuries).
- You are attending a private residence on a terraced street where a neighbour has reported an elderly lady believed to have fallen in her front lounge. The lady is alert and asking for her daughter and does not appear to be in any pain.
- You have been called to a G.P. surgery where a father has brought in his 5 year old son. The G.P. has identified signs and symptoms of sepsis.
In this assignment you need to:
- Create a risk assessment document that identifies 5 hazards that pose a risk in your scenario and the actions that might be taken to reduce such risks. (5.1)
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of the paramedic attending your selected scenario. (1.1)
- Explain with reference to the H.C.P.C. Standards of Proficiency (Paramedics) and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics the importance of a paramedic’s roles and responsibilities and their accountability for their actions, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting diversity. (1.2)
- Outline the members of the full team when an ambulance is called out in your scenario. (2.1)
- Analyse the ways in which the paramedic team is integral to the efficiency of the paramedic service. (2.2)
- Describe how the paramedic might liaise with other professionals relevant to the scenario and evaluate the importance of this. (3.1, 3.2)
- Explain at least two situations where a prompt decision might need to be made within your scenario evaluate the importance of the paramedic’s decisions. (4.1)
