This event is quite devastating. Not only because seven innocent and dedicated people died, but because of the error and lack of ethical decision making on NASA, MTI, as well as Congress. With such a huge as well as dangerous mission, there should have been measures taken where double and triple checking every component of the take off should have occurred. If anything, this excerpt just showed how money rules everything in this world. I have seen it first hand in the medical field and it is quite horrifying that scientists would be pressured like that when it is possible that our world might depend on space travel and findings. Something I have taken away from this reading, that I can certainly apply to my future ethical decision making, is not to be pressured to do anything that can cause harm to anyone or myself regardless of the consequences. Also, speaking up when something is very wrong while no one else is. Being aware of surroundings and checking my work space as well as planning ahead for anything to happen. This was a very unfortunate event and it is imperative that safety is always implemented for any life.
