Portfolio of Evidence

Produce a portfolio, of up to 2,000 words,  that provides evidence of achievement of all assessment criteria.

 

Task 1: Using email

Evidence of 

 

  • receiving and reading an email
  • creating and sending an email
  • managing email messages
  • searching for an email

 

Evidence can be examples of messages covering the range of activities, a tutor witness statement or a combination of both.  (1.1)

Task 2: Browse the internet to find information

 

  • Identify a topic relevant to your studies and the information you want to obtain.
  • Access a range of web sites and use browser tools and hyperlinks
  • Use bookmarks or favourites to save and retrieve at least one web page and location. (2.1)
  • Use at least two search engines to search for information.  Change the search terms at least once.
  • Make notes and discuss the performance of each search engine with another student in the group. (3.1, 3.2)
  • Select on a piece of online material that relates to the information you researched.  Print this item (3.3)

 

Evidence in your portfolio should include details of the topic researched, a tutor witness statement confirming achievement of given assessment criteria, notes for the discussion and the printed information.

Task 3: Manipulate and use information from the internet

Select one or more web pages from the previous task and use parts of these to

 

  • select, copy and paste text
  • select and save an image
  • take a screen shot and crop ready to use (4.1)

 

Evidence in the portfolio should include the pasted text, image and screen shot and tutor confirmation that the image was saved correctly.

Task 4: Issues affecting the use of the internet

For each of the assessment criteria below write at least one paragraph demonstrating understanding of the issues

 

  • Identify key legislation relevant to the internet , for example, the computer misuse act (5.1)
  • Discuss how to protect personal information on line (5.2)
  • Describe some common academic uses of the internet (5.3)

 

The assessed writing should be included in your portfolioIf witness statements are used they should give brief details of the task, the student’s performance and which assessment criteria have been achieved.  If not all assessment criteria have been achieved the tutor feedback should provide guidance for a resubmission and then another witness statement.
