Personal Theory
Discussion Prompt
Choose a clinical situation in your specialty and create a theory from your observations. Report the theory to the class. Use a form that clearly identifies your concepts and proposition such as; “psychosocial development (Concept A) progresses through (Proposition) stages (Concept B)â€. Identify and define the concepts involved and the proposition between them. For example, a surgical unit nurse may have observed that elevating the head of the bed for an abdominal surgery patient (Concept A) reduces (Proposition) complaints of pain (Concept B). The concepts are the head of the bed and pain. The proposition is that changing one will decrease the other. Raising the head of the bed decreases pain. Use current literature to define your concepts. Each concept should have at least two supporting references.

Personal Theory
For this discussion post, I will be choosing a clinical situation and creating a theory from my observation. I will be using a form that clearly defines the concepts and propositions. This theory is created from my present use.
As a Clinical Nurse Administrator, I work closely with Primary Care patients that have mostly chronic conditions. Some patients have problems such as chronic heart failure (CHF), unstable hypertension, and other chronic diagnoses. A theory for chronic heart failure patients is the use of angiotensin-2 receptor blockers (ARBs) (Turgeon et al., 2019). (ARBs) are expected to increase the life expectancy for patients with (CHF) (Turgeon et al., 2019). (ARBs) work by blocking the effects of angiotensin and assist with the roles of ejection fractions. Manufactures have researched the use of these types of medications in have concluded that the medication can decrease the workload of the heart, which will decrease having increased myocardial activity, thus improving the condition of the patient (Januzzi et al., 2019).
The concept is that prescribing and monitoring the use of the medication for patients with chronic heart failure may lead to decrease mortality. Life expectancy is the term meant that statistically the measurement of the average period of life. For example, a woman that does not have any chronic illness can live to be around 81 years. However, the life expectancy for a woman with a diagnosis of (CHF) is shortly cut to less than five years after initial diagnosis (Januzzi et al., 2019).
