NURS 6321: Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Evaluation
Assignment (3–4 pages):
Based on your research and the data you gather through your Part 1 Planning Guide, include the following:
- A brief description of your chosen setting and the existing agency, institution, medical/healthcare center, or clinic or other setting, including distinguishing characteristics of the community where it is located.
- A brief description of the needs assessment that you conducted, including:
- Key external factors identified by the needs assessment
- Key internal factors identified by the needs assessment
- An analysis of how the key external and internal factors impact your focus setting (i.e., agency, institution, healthcare center, clinic or other); its nursing, patient, or other education programs (if applicable); and current education needs. Use the Learning Resources and/or the best available evidence from current literature to support your analysis.
- A summary statement explaining:
- The type of education program you propose (e.g., patient education, entry-level nursing, staff professional development, or other)
- The target population for this program (e.g., age-specific groups; location-specific groups)
- 2–3 program-level outcomes for the curriculum you would design for this setting
- An explanation of specific external and internal factors that could positively or negatively influence your proposed program. Use the Learning Resources and/or the best available evidence from current literature to support your explanation.
- Based on your overall needs assessment, an explanation of your rationale for the curriculum you are proposing. Use the Learning Resources and/or the best available evidence from current literature to support your rationale.
