Assignment Brief
Daniel was diagnosed with schizophrenia many years ago. He found it hard to take care of himself and had put on a lot of weight. Through support and guidance he learnt how to cook healthy meals and build his confidence. Later the community psychiatric nurse encouraged Daniel to attend a healthy lifestyle group where he met others with the same difficulties and they were able to support each other to keep attending. When the programme finished the group decided to carry on with regular exercise and joined a rambling group.
Task
a) Daniel’s group has asked you to explain to them a little more about mental health and well-being. Devise a short presentation which explains the terms mental health, mental well-being and mental ill-health and analyses three factors that influence mental well-being and mental health (LO 1)
b) Using this case study, write a short essay on the implications of mental ill-health for Daniel and the coping strategies he has adopted (LO 2)
