The Significance of the Research Topic

CKD is associated with severe health complications, including hypertension and cardiovascular issues. These complications accelerate the declining kidney function, affecting an individual’s quality of life. Chronic kidney disease contributes to kidney issues, requires one dialysis or kidney transplant, and can cause death. Hemodialysis helps filter water and wastes from the patient’s blood and control blood pressure and balance significant minerals, such as calcium and sodium. However, patients under hemodialysis treatment are most likely to suffer from depression, affecting their quality of life (Um-e-Kalsoom et al., 2020). Peritoneal dialysis utilizes the peritoneum in an individual’s abdomen to filter water and wastes from the blood.
